The Municipality removed a commercial-use stadium on state-owned land in Salwa

The Kuwait Municipality continued its field operations to remove encroachments on state property. The Encroachment Removal Team, affiliated with the Hawalli Governorate Municipality branch, carried out the demolition of a football field illegally constructed on state land in the Salwa area, after exhausting all legal procedures and issuing multiple warnings to the violator, who failed to rectify the situation or provide the necessary permits.
Ibrahim Al-Subaie, Head of the Encroachment Removal Department on State Property at the Kuwait Municipality – Hawalli Governorate branch, explained during a television interview with Al-Akhbariya Channel that the field was built on a large area of state land and used for commercial purposes, without providing any benefit to the local residents. He noted that the municipality had previously issued more than one warning to the person responsible for the violation, demanding proof of the site’s legality and submission of the required permits, but he failed to comply. This necessitated the execution of the demolition in accordance with prevailing legal procedures.

Al-Subaie emphasized that the municipality will hold the violator responsible for all costs associated with the demolition, in addition to any legal procedures and penalties that may result from the violation, in accordance with the regulations and laws governing the protection of state property.
He pointed out that inspection campaigns in Hawalli Governorate had identified several other forms of encroachment on state property, including the blocking of electrical transformers, which hindered teams from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy from carrying out their operational and routine maintenance work. Additionally, state-owned lands were being exploited to construct swimming pools and other illegal structures without permits.
Al-Subaie called on citizens and property owners to promptly respond to the warnings issued by the municipality. He noted that the encroachment removal campaigns, launched on June 22, are ongoing according to a comprehensive field plan aimed at eliminating all forms of encroachment on state property in various areas.
He clarified that taking the initiative to remove the violation oneself before the specified deadline expires helps avoid legal procedures and financial fines, as well as preventing the imposition of demolition costs incurred by the municipality in case of non-compliance.
