Global Call for Support of the Iranian Opposition Abroad

Global Call for Support of the Iranian Opposition Abroad

We stated yesterday that the major error committed regarding the Iranian regime was a repetition of the mistake made with Saddam Hussein, who killed thousands of Iraqis in an attempt to consolidate his power after Kuwait was liberated from his army’s invasion. This was a crime in which the political and economic interests of various states played a significant role.

Iran is currently seeking to entrench its regime, not only through attacks on neighbors and threats to international peace, but also by suppressing peaceful domestic opposition. This opposition is substantial and possesses internationally recognized strength, encompassing not only the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), but also Kurdish, Baloch, and Arab factions.

An observer of Iran’s current demographic map finds significant ethnic diversity, with groups that are not harmonious with one another. Many of the country’s elites have criticisms of the current system, and there have been numerous armed clashes with Basij or Revolutionary Guard forces in Balochistan, Arab Ahvaz, and Kurdish regions.

For decades, there have been demands for self-determination from Kurds, Baloch, and Arabs. The latter had a state that Iran seized through deception in 1925, arresting its emir. Since then, its people have continued to strive for the liberation of their homeland.

Conversely, the people of Balochistan, which was occupied by force in 1928, continue to work for self-determination and the liberation of their land from Persian occupation. For this reason, they have formed armed factions, as have the Kurds, who are victims of the unjust geographical partitioning after World War I, particularly in Iran.

Thus, when 50 percent of the non-Persian ethnic groups seek autonomy, it is unjust to leave them at the mercy of a failing regime that operates under the guise of historical victimhood, drawing its justification for existence from this narrative. This regime seeks to suppress voices demanding liberation and dignified living. Consequently, opposition factions, both domestic and international, which have gained significant political strength and a good international reputation, have the capacity to dismantle this terrorist regime and transform the state into a normal entity capable of cooperating with its neighborhood and the world in ways that serve international peace and shield the global economy from the shocks caused by the current regime.

On this basis, it is natural for the world to listen to Baloch, Kurdish, Arab, Azerbaijani, Lur, Bakhtiari, and other ethnic groups demanding deliverance from the clutches of the current regime and freedom from the Persian mantle. Their culture and social, political, and even economic heritage are entirely distinct from Persian culture, which remains tied to its legacy opposing historical progress and the illusions of an empire that perished 1,350 years ago.

Lies embedded in certain aspects of history cannot serve as a foundation for a normal state, especially if they are built on fabrications nonexistent in the cultures of nations. Myths are stories for entertainment, not foundations for state-building, as facts undermine them from their roots.

Therefore, if the international community truly wishes to be freed from the terrorism of the current Iranian regime, it must not only support these factions but also create objective conditions for Iranian opposition groups to determine their own destiny. Given the regime’s current weakness, this is a historical opportunity that will not arise again, preventing the recurrence of strategic errors that allowed Hitler to ignite World War II and enabled Saddam’s regime to perpetrate genocide against Kurds and southern Iraqis when the international coalition turned a blind eye to the suppression of uprisings in Iraq.
