Uber Acquires Delivery Hero in €13 Billion Deal
US ride-hailing company Uber has acquired German food delivery firm Delivery Hero in a deal valued at approximately 13 billion euros.
Delivery Hero, which is headquartered in Berlin, confirmed the completion of the merger with the US company, stating that Uber will pay 41.50 euros per share, bringing the total value of the transaction to around 13 billion euros.
Previously, Uber held a stake of just under 25 percent in Delivery Hero’s shares, along with financial instruments representing approximately 12 percent.
In a related development, Dutch company Prosus, the largest shareholder in Delivery Hero, sold its stake of around 17 percent, in fulfillment of a prior commitment linked to its acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway, the owner of the Deliveroo service.
