Al-Saqqa and Yasmin: 'Take Care of Yourself' Prompted Us to Swap Roles!

After a period of waiting and postponement, actress Yasmin Abdel Aziz fulfilled her promise, appearing alongside her fellow artist Ahmed El Sakka as guests in Kuwait, invited by the Kuwait National Cinema Company “Cinescape” to attend the special screening of their film. The event took place at 360 Mall, attended by Hisham Al-Ghanim, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at “Cinescape.” It was an occasion that brought together a large group of artists, media personalities, critics, and cinema enthusiasts.

Prior to the screening, the media were allowed to ask questions of the two guests. Both agreed that their participation in “Khallek Min Nafsak” (Beware of Yourself) was not pre-planned; rather, the film was written specifically for them. They revealed the behind-the-scenes story of their agreement, which began with a phone call from Yasmin to El Sakka, during which she checked on his well-being. Sensing from her tone—given their long-standing friendship—that she was hiding something, he asked, “What is it, my dear? What do you want?” She then presented the idea, and thankfully, here we stand before you for the first time on the big screen.

For her part, Yasmin said, “What distinguishes our characters is that we swapped roles: I chose the action role, while El Sakka opted to portray a calm and rational man.” Both El Sakka and Yasmin emphasized that most on-screen duos are not pre-planned but are governed by numerous factors, including chemistry, the nature of the script, as well as the repetition of successful experiences and the creation of hits.

“Gentle Rebuke”

In his speech, Hisham Al-Ghanim affirmed that Kuwait remains their second home. He gently chided Yasmin Abdel Aziz for delaying her visit to Kuwait, adding that the entire Kuwaiti audience is eager to see her, and expressed his happiness at having her among her fans. Regarding El Sakka, Al-Ghanim recalled that the Kuwait National Cinema Company had the honor of converting the first Arab film, “Timour and Shafika,” released in 2007, into the digital format.

The event included the screening of a short documentary film lasting approximately 40 seconds, highlighting key milestones in the artistic careers of both Ahmed El Sakka and Yasmin Abdel Aziz, from their beginnings to their latest works, shedding light on their most significant achievements and successes.
