Congratulations to the top high school graduates
I appreciate how major companies in Kuwait distribute gifts to top high school graduates, in both the scientific and literary streams, this year and every year. We see exhibitions handing out mobile phones and watches, flower shops distributing bouquets, and even some major car companies awarding cars to outstanding Kuwaiti students.
However, in my view, it would be better if wealthy individuals, businessmen, company owners, charitable organizations in Kuwait, as well as affluent Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis, were to sponsor the academic education of some high-achieving students from among expatriates and residents, at their own expense—particularly in prestigious medical and engineering faculties, which are costly both within Kuwait and abroad. This should be conditional on maintaining success and excellence in every year of study in medical or engineering faculties and their various branches. Tuition fees should be paid directly by philanthropists, whether individuals, groups, companies, or charitable organizations, to university administrations, both within Kuwait and overseas.
I am grateful to Kuwait for providing the opportunity to study medicine and engineering at Kuwaiti universities for resident expatriate students who hold the Kuwaiti General Secondary Certificate, in exchange for annual fees that I hope will be low for the top two hundred high school achievers (in both the scientific and literary streams), with each admitted resident at Kuwaiti public and private universities being gifted a driver’s license for a private car. And long live Kuwait.
