Hamad bin Khalifa... A Lasting Legacy and an Enduring Heritage
With hearts steadfast in faith in God’s decree and destiny, we received the news of the passing of the founding Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who left a prominent mark on the history of modern Qatar and contributed to its journey of progress and development, until it became a model recognized for its presence and influence at both the regional and international levels.
The late leader was a visionary who believed that true investment lies in human capital, in education, health, development, and institution-building.
During his reign, Qatar witnessed transformative advances across various sectors, consolidating its standing among nations and strengthening its presence in the fields of politics, economy, media, sports, and culture.
Among the most notable achievements of his tenure was the smooth transfer of authority to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a move that reflected wisdom and foresight, contributed to the continuity of the nation’s construction and development, and set a distinguished example of responsibility and future-oriented leadership.
The influence of the founding Amir extended beyond the borders of his homeland, reaching out to support numerous humanitarian and developmental initiatives, and fostering dialogue and cooperation among peoples. He was actively engaged in many issues that served development and stability in the region.
Kuwait and Qatar share deep-rooted fraternal relations and strong historical ties, reinforced by sincere positions and continuous cooperation between the two leaderships and their brotherly peoples. This shared bond makes this loss a source of common grief and sorrow.
May God have mercy on the founding Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, grant him vast forgiveness, and admit him to the expanses of Paradise. May He reward him abundantly for what he contributed to his country and his nation, and may He inspire His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the esteemed Al Thani family, and the brotherly Qatari people with patience and solace. “Indeed, to Allah we belong, and indeed, to Him we shall return.”
