Gulf Oil and Saudi Chevron: Production Increase to 350,000 Barrels per Day

In line with the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s vision and strategy to increase Kuwait’s oil production to 4 million barrels per day by 2035, both through its subsidiaries’ domestic and international exploration efforts, informed sources told Al-Siyasa that the Kuwait Gulf Oil Company aims to boost production capacity in the Greater Burgan field, jointly operated by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in collaboration with Chevron Saudi Arabia, to reach a production rate of 300,000 to 350,000 barrels per day over the next five years.

The sources confirmed that operations in the Greater Burgan field witnessed notable growth in production rates last year, with the daily oil production rate reaching approximately 77,520 barrels per day (for the Kuwaiti side), alongside the delivery of around 22 million standard cubic feet of associated gas to Kuwait Oil Company. At the same time, they noted that drilling operations in the Greater Burgan joint venture completed three new wells as part of the development plan. Exploration activities in the North Burgan area also yielded promising results, with new oil reserves discovered in the Ibra and Rithmah reservoirs, producing between 260 and 380 barrels per day per well.

Meanwhile, the sources stated that Kuwaiti-Saudi efforts through the Greater Burgan joint venture are aimed at discovering new reservoirs to achieve the targeted production levels, through coordinated cooperation between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. These efforts successfully identified the Warrah reservoir in the northern part of the Greater Burgan field last year, with flow rates exceeding 500 barrels per day.
