Al-Aqila Special Education Schools Complex on the Path to Privatization

The Central Tenders Board, by a majority of its members, approved during its meeting held last Wednesday the request of the Ministry of Public Works to launch a tender for the construction, completion, supply, maintenance, and furnishing of the Special Education Schools Complex in the Uqaylah area, after reviewing three letters containing the required amendments to the tender.

The Board also set August 16 next year as the final deadline for companies wishing to compete for the tender to submit their bids, which the Board will then refer to the concerned Ministry to prepare the technical recommendation within 30 days, paving the way for the award decision.

The complex is among the important projects implemented by the Ministry on behalf of the Ministry of Education, aiming to serve an important segment of society—individuals with special needs across six types of disabilities: autism, Down syndrome, physical disability, intellectual disability, deafness and muteness, and visual impairment. The complex was allocated a site area of 100,000 square meters, with an implementation period of four years. It includes a specialized building for education, rehabilitation, and speech therapy; another for physical therapy, equipped with swimming pools and sports fields; and an administrative building.
