Before the 'Golden Four' matches... Crowd attendance for the 2026 World Cup exceeds 6.5 million spectators

The 2026 FIFA World Cup continued to set unprecedented attendance records, after the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced that the total attendance at the tournament matches, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, had surpassed 6.5 million spectators, with just four matches remaining before the conclusion of the competition.

FIFA’s official media channel account on the X platform published statistics showing that total attendance reached 6,527,410 spectators, confirming that the number of fans at this edition exceeded the cumulative attendance of the previous two tournaments.

FIFA stated: “A massive fan support inside the stadiums at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The number of fans at this edition has surpassed the total attendance of the previous two editions.”

Only four matches remain in the tournament, with Spain facing France on Tuesday evening, while England meets defending champions Argentina on Wednesday evening in the semi-finals.

The third-place match will be held next Saturday, with the tournament concluding with the final on Sunday.

The 2022 World Cup was held in Qatar, which became the first Arab country and the first from the Middle East to host the tournament, while Russia hosted the 2018 edition.
