Tripathi: Jaishankar's visit underscores India's full solidarity with Kuwait

Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi confirmed that the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to Kuwait was aimed at expressing India’s full solidarity with Kuwait amid the current developments in the region. She noted that the minister conveyed a message to the Kuwaiti leadership underscoring the depth of bilateral relations and New Delhi’s readiness to provide all possible support to Kuwait during this phase.

In a statement to journalists, she explained that the minister emphasized India’s willingness to cooperate in various priority areas, particularly regarding food security and addressing challenges related to supply chains and logistical connectivity. She pointed out that India had already provided specialized foam materials for extinguishing major fires as part of its efforts to support Kuwait.

She added that the visit was “a quintessential solidarity visit,” confirming that other bilateral visits are anticipated in the coming period, during which the discussion of bilateral agreements and the enhancement of cooperation between the two countries will be completed, without disclosing details at this time.

She noted that the minister held a series of high-level meetings with the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Defense. The discussions covered bilateral relations and security developments in the region, as well as the implications of regional developments on regional and global security and stability.

The ambassador affirmed that the minister received a grand reception from the Kuwaiti side, reflecting the robust historical ties between the two countries and the commitment of both leaderships to continue strengthening bilateral partnership. Regarding the minister’s meeting with members of the Indian community in Kuwait, the ambassador clarified that the purpose of the meeting was to listen to the community members and learn about their situation under the current circumstances. She noted that the embassy had maintained continuous contact with them, and that the ministry in New Delhi was receiving daily reports on their conditions.

She added that the minister emphasized during the meeting that the safety and well-being of Indian citizens abroad remain a top priority for the Indian government. Members of the community expressed their happiness at his visit, which provided an opportunity to exchange views and learn about the efforts India is making to serve them.

Concluding her remarks, she expressed her anticipation for intensified reciprocal visits between the two countries in the coming period, noting that mutual invitations are already in place, and work is underway to arrange further official visits to enhance Kuwait-India relations and open broader horizons for cooperation.
