Massive public welcome for the Egyptian national team following their historic achievement at the World Cup

The Egyptian national team received a massive popular and official welcome upon its return to the country, following the conclusion of its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The team achieved its best-ever result by reaching the Round of 16 for the first time, before being eliminated from the tournament with a 3-2 defeat to Argentina.

Thousands of fans gathered since early morning around Alexandria International Airport to welcome the national team delegation, waving Egyptian flags and holding banners featuring images of several players and head coach Hossam Hassan, in celebration of the team’s performance during its World Cup campaign.

An open-top bus was also arranged to transport the national team delegation, allowing fans to celebrate with the players and interact with them after they left the airport.

It is worth noting that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is scheduled to receive the national team delegation tomorrow, Saturday, in recognition of the historic achievement the team attained in the tournament.
