Fadel Jassim thanks his fans: I will return to you soon
The name of Lebanese artist Fadel Shaker topped search trends on Google and social media platforms hours after his release, while his first public appearance following his detention drew widespread attention, marked by an emotional message to his fans in which he expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him during the years of his crisis, asking his followers to give him some time to recover his health and ensure the well-being of his family.
Shaker wrote on his official Instagram account: “Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. Today, new lines were written for me in freedom, and I am grateful to God first and to everyone who stood by my side and supported me in my case.”
The message sparked widespread engagement among his audience, with thousands of followers welcoming his release and recalling key moments from his artistic career. Many considered his release the beginning of a new chapter in his life, following years of crisis that began with the events at the Aqbat Jabr refugee camp in 2013, continued with his concealment inside the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, and culminated in his surrender to Lebanese authorities and his retrial after the cancellation of in absentia verdicts issued against him under Lebanese law.
For his part, his son, artist Mohammed Fadel Shaker, expressed his joy at his father’s release, writing on his account: “Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. Thirteen years. Injustice may last long, but it does not endure. A message to every oppressed person: hope for good, and God willing, our Lord will relieve your distress. A new journey has begun, and we are excited about what is to come.”
In a video clip shared on social media, he also emphasized that the family is preparing for a new phase after years of hardship, directing a message of hope to anyone going through similar circumstances and urging them to hold on to hope and not lose faith in the resolution of crises.
