France denies Morocco revenge... advances to the semi-finals

France reaffirmed their superiority over Morocco, securing a spot in the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating them 2-0 at Gillette Stadium in Boston, in the opening quarterfinal match.

The first half ended goalless, before French captain Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock by scoring the opening goal in the 60th minute. Ousmane Dembélé then doubled the lead just six minutes later, ensuring the "Gallic Roosters" advanced to the final four.

Morocco failed to avenge their 2022 World Cup semifinal loss to France, when they were eliminated from the tournament with a 2-0 defeat, after having made history by becoming the first Arab and African team to reach the semifinals.

France had reached the quarterfinals by defeating Paraguay 1-0 in the round of 16, while Morocco advanced following a convincing 3-0 victory over Canada.

France will face the winner of the European clash between Spain and Belgium in the semifinals.
