Oil Minister Tariq Al-Rumai confirmed on Sunday that Kuwait is committed to the importance of consultation and coordination among producing countries in the face of rapid changes in energy markets, which contribute to enhancing the market’s capacity to address various challenges in recent periods.
This statement was made by Minister Al-Rumai, as reported in a press release issued by the Ministry of Oil, following his chairing of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting of the seven countries involved in the voluntary output reduction agreement, held via video conferencing.
He clarified that the meeting is a continuation of the implementation of the decision to withdraw from the voluntary output reduction agreement and increase total production, in line with a gradual and balanced approach based on oil market needs. He noted that the total increase for the seven countries participating in the withdrawal agreement will be 188,000 barrels per day in August 2026, and Kuwait’s production in August 2026 will stand at 2.660 million barrels per day.
He emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination to strengthen confidence in global energy markets and maintain their stability in the coming period.
The Kuwaiti delegation, in addition to Minister Al-Rumai, included Kuwait’s Governor to OPEC, Mohammed Al-Shatti, and Kuwait’s National Representative to OPEC, Sheikh Abdullah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
