Team Commander Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, announced the return of the global shipping route “Ever Green” through the canal after a hiatus of nearly three years.

The mega container ship “Ever Eon,” part of the northbound convoy, crossed the canal, signaling a positive step toward the resumption of sustainable global trade flows between the East and the West. On Sunday, the first transit of the mega container ship “Ever Eon” (EVER EON) took place within the northbound convoy, on its journey from the Netherlands to Singapore.

The vessel follows the “Ever Green” shipping route. It measures 369 meters in length and 53.6 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 185,000 tons, and has a capacity of up to 16,556 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The ship is currently operating on the NEU 7 service, managed by the Ocean Alliance shipping consortium, which provides direct connections between major ports on the trade route between the Far East and northwestern Europe.

In accordance with the standard protocol of the Suez Canal Authority for vessels making their first transit, Team Commander Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Authority, assigned Captain Mahmoud Abu Ajila, Senior Chief Pilot, and Captain Youssef Yahya, Senior Pilot from the Port Said sector, along with Captain Elhamy El Babli, Senior Chief Pilot, and Captain Nader Naji, Senior Pilot from the Ismailia sector, to board the vessel, welcome the crew, and present a commemorative gift to the ship’s captain.

Team Commander Osama Rabie emphasized that the return of the “Ever Green” shipping route to transit the Suez Canal is a positive indicator of global trade resuming its sustainable trajectory between the East and the West. The Authority’s Chairman noted that the “Ever Green” line plans to resume additional voyages through the canal in the near future, following a hiatus of nearly three years since the outbreak of the Red Sea crisis.

He further clarified that the Suez Canal has successfully restored several shipping services operated by major carriers on the Europe-Asia trade route, including CMA CGM, Maersk, MSC, Hapag-Lloyd, COSCO, and Ever Green, a move that underscores the canal’s strategic importance as a key hub linking the East and the West.
