(Anadolu) – The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated that units of its naval forces are participating in the ongoing “Sea Friendship 2026” exercises in Egypt.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Army announced the arrival of several Turkish naval units at the Alexandria Naval Base to take part in the joint training.
In a post on the Turkish social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that the exercises are being held in Alexandria Governorate, northern Egypt.
It noted the participation of Turkish naval force units in the drills.
The ministry added: “Our path is friendship, and our strength lies in our unity.”
The exercises, hosted by the Egyptian side, began on November 4 and will continue until November 9.
The drills include underwater attack operations and basic maritime operations.
For his part, Colonel Ahmed Atman, spokesperson for the Egyptian Armed Forces, announced on Saturday that the joint Egyptian-Turkish training exercises (“Sea Friendship 2026”) had commenced in Egypt.
Atman, posting on the American company Meta’s Facebook platform, noted that the training would continue for several days within the framework of the Northern Fleet, involving personnel from both the Egyptian and Turkish navies.
He added: “The training activities began with a series of theoretical and practical lectures to harmonize the combat concepts of both sides, as well as the implementation of various training activities to hone the skills of the participating personnel.”
Atman clarified that previous days had seen the arrival of several Turkish naval units at the Alexandria Naval Base to participate in the training.
He emphasized that the training comes amid growing cooperation relations between the Egyptian and Turkish Armed Forces across various military fields, and the transfer and exchange of expertise between the navies of both countries.
