Director of the Meteorology Department at the Ministry of Interior, Dharar Al-Ali, stated that the country is affected by active winds stirring up dust, with a chance of scattered light to moderate rainfall, occasionally thunderstorms, starting from Saturday afternoon and continuing until Monday morning.
Al-Ali added that weather maps and numerical models indicate the country is being influenced by an extension of a moist surface low-pressure system, concurrent with a low-pressure system in the upper atmospheric layers. This combination leads to the proliferation of low and mid-level clouds and increased activity of southwesterly winds, which stir up dust.
He noted that horizontal visibility will drop to below 1,000 meters in some areas, and the winds will cause sea waves to rise to more than six feet.
He clarified that cloud cover will gradually increase from Saturday afternoon, interspersed with cumulus clouds accompanied by scattered rainfall, occasionally thunderstorms, with amounts ranging from light to moderate. Gradual improvement in weather conditions is expected to begin on Monday morning.
Al-Ali emphasized that asthma and allergy patients must wear masks when going out out of necessity, particularly during thunderstorms and due to the high humidity characteristic of this season.
He called on citizens and residents to closely follow weather bulletins through the official website and application of the Meteorology Department, as well as its social media accounts, to stay informed about the latest weather developments.
