Amazon Launches Text Message Shopping Feature Using Alexa - Sarmad

Amazon announced on Friday that customers in the United States will be able to use Alexa Shopping, an AI-powered shopping assistant, to search for products and make purchases via text messages.

Amazon stated that the new feature allows users to search for and compare products, track deals and price drops, and enables Alexa Shopping to complete purchases on their behalf.

The company noted that the feature will initially be rolled out to a small group of invited American customers before a broader launch in the coming weeks.

This launch follows Amazon’s recent move to block Meta’s AI-powered shopping agent, Muzo, from accessing its online store, citing concerns that the tool was accessing the store without authorization and storing customer login data.

In March, Amazon obtained a court order to block Comet, the shopping agent developed by Perplexity, although a U.S. appeals court lifted the ban in August. The case remains ongoing.
