The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State of Qatar’s International Media Office denied on Saturday the accuracy of statements attributed to Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani regarding the failure of the United States and Iran to reach an agreement.
Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that circulating claims about the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s remarks on U.S.-Iran negotiations—specifically allegations that both sides failed to reach an agreement—are baseless and constitute a deliberate distortion of his statements.
In a post on the X platform, Al-Ansari added, “We firmly reject these attempts to mislead public opinion and undermine diplomatic efforts at this sensitive time.”
He noted that the Foreign Minister had clearly affirmed that both parties continue to work toward reaching an agreement, and that Qatari mediators remain in close coordination with both sides to support the ongoing negotiations.
Al-Ansari emphasized that promoting such claims only serves those seeking to prolong the war and destabilize the region.
Earlier, the State of Qatar’s International Media Office said in a statement that “reports circulating on social media, which claim that the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar stated that the United States and Iran failed to reach an agreement, are baseless and misleading.”
The statement added: “His Excellency’s remarks have been systematically distorted by parties that benefit from the continuation of war and instability in our region; fake accounts have spread numerous such claims in an effort to thwart diplomatic efforts and push for further escalation, an act of considerable irresponsibility. His Excellency has confirmed in his statements that both parties continue to work toward reaching an agreement.”
The statement clarified that Qatari mediation continues to maintain close coordination with the United States and Iran to support the ongoing negotiations.
