Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated that the United States and Iran failed to reach a “comprehensive agreement.”
He added that both sides should accept a “good” agreement rather than pursuing an “ideal” one.
Earlier, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through statements by its spokesperson Majid Al-Ansari, confirmed that the United States and Iran are continuing to study proposals put forward by mediators, and that communications between the two sides remain ongoing to narrow the gap in their differences.
Mediation efforts face significant challenges, given Tehran’s insistence on demands related to the lifting of oil sanctions, the end of the U.S. naval blockade, and the release of its frozen assets, in exchange for U.S. demands concerning the nuclear file, security guarantees, and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
