Syrian singer Asala Nasri revealed that her jewelry was stolen from a hotel in Detroit, United States, sharing details of the incident and the sentimental value of the lost pieces, which held family and personal memories.
Asala recounted the events in a post on her Instagram account, accompanied by a video highlighting stops from her recent U.S. tour, which included Los Angeles, New Jersey, and Detroit.
She explained that the theft occurred during the final leg of the tour, after she returned to her hotel following a concert in the city. The next morning, she discovered that her jewelry box had completely disappeared, realizing she had been robbed.
The singer noted that she did not immediately publicize the incident because she did not want to spoil the joy of her successful U.S. tour. She added that the audience’s reception and interaction exceeded her expectations.
Asala emphasized that what pained her most about the loss was not merely the monetary value of the jewelry, but the personal meanings and irreplaceable memories they carried. Among the stolen items were pieces bearing the name and image of her late father, gifts from her husband, children, and friends, as well as items she had purchased to commemorate significant milestones in her life and career.
She pointed out that some of the items were the result of long waits; one piece, bearing her father’s name, took more than a year to prepare, making its loss particularly painful.
Regarding the steps taken after the incident, she mentioned that police and relevant authorities were involved in investigating the case, but she had not received any new information about the whereabouts of the stolen items, despite nearly two weeks passing since their disappearance.
Despite her frustration over the incident, Asala expressed her desire to move past it and not let it affect her connection with her fans, announcing her readiness to meet her admirers in Dubai at a concert titled “The UAE Loves Syria.”
