Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty held talks with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, on the latest developments in the regional situation and the efforts underway to contain current tensions and de-escalate the region.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday that the discussion took place during a phone call held the previous day, during which the two sides exchanged views on recent developments in the region and the concerns they have raised regarding the possibility of renewed military confrontations and their repercussions on regional and international security and stability.
The statement added that Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of prioritizing diplomatic solutions and called for all parties to demonstrate the necessary openness, enabling a political settlement of the crisis through the required flexibility and the achievement of compromise solutions that serve the interests of all sides.
In this regard, he stressed the need to prevent the region from sliding into a new wave of escalation, which could have serious political, economic, and humanitarian consequences for the region and the world as a whole.
