The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Thursday that two oil tankers and a tugboat were involved in separate fires following attempts to use unauthorized routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Guard clarified that one of the tankers struck a sea mine while attempting to cross a channel located south of the strait, while a fire broke out in another large oil tanker as it exited the route in the eastern part of the waterway.
The tugboat, which had approached the second tanker to assist in extinguishing the fire, also caught fire.
