An Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran and Washington are far from reaching an agreement to end the war, adding that the United States must meet Iran’s conditions if it wants the Strait of Hormuz to be reopened.
He added that the U.S. demands are excessive and that Iran will certainly not accept them, emphasizing that mediators are working to overcome obstacles in negotiations with the United States.
He clarified, “We will not begin nuclear talks with the United States before our conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz are met,” adding, “We are prepared to respond forcefully to U.S. strikes, whether in the region or outside it.”
