The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Bedaiwi, stated that GCC member states have demonstrated their capacity to confront security challenges and economic developments, while maintaining the resilience of their economies and sustaining their developmental trajectory.
In a speech at the “Gulf Gateway” forum held in Bahrain, Al-Bedaiwi emphasized that Iranian attacks targeting GCC countries had repercussions across the energy, transport, logistics, and supply chain sectors. Nevertheless, the GCC states exhibited exceptional cohesion and a high ability to contain the fallout from these aggressions.
Al-Bedaiwi noted that this experience confirmed that Gulf integration is no longer merely a developmental choice, but a strategic necessity to safeguard national gains and enhance collective capacity to manage crises.
The GCC Secretary-General also stressed that the Strait of Hormuz constitutes a vital artery for the global economy, and that ensuring its security and the safety of navigation through it is not solely the responsibility of GCC member states, but a shared international responsibility given its critical importance to energy flows, international trade movements, and global market stability.
