Hanan Al-Eidan, Deputy Director of the Fatwa and Legislation Department and Legal Advisor, received the Excellence Award for Technical Members of Legislation Departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries for 2026, representing Kuwait, on the sidelines of the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee of Officials of Legislation Departments in GCC member states, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Qutaiba Al-Dabous, a lawyer from Kuwait and a member of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday that this honor is the first awarded by the GCC Secretariat-General to technical members of legislation departments in GCC countries, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to legislative work.
Al-Dabous added that the award recognizes the legal and legislative expertise of Gulf professionals, highlights the efforts of those working in this field, and encourages them to continue their dedication and excellence, thereby advancing legislative work and enhancing the exchange of expertise and experiences among legislation departments in GCC member states.
The award was presented on the sidelines of the meeting held in Manama last Thursday, under Bahrain’s chairmanship of the Standing Committee for the current year.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting was led by Jowhar Al-Maqroon, Head of the Legislation Sector and Deputy Director of the Fatwa and Legislation Department, and included several members of the Legislation Sector.
The meeting addressed several agenda items of the Standing Committee, focusing on strengthening cooperation and joint coordination, as well as exchanging expertise among legislation departments in GCC member states, with the aim of developing legislative work and advancing the Gulf legislative framework.
