The Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations, represented by the Crime Investigations Department, in collaboration with the Public Security Sector, arrested a suspect of Bangladeshi nationality in the murder of a security guard at a plot under construction in the Al-Mutlaa area, in less than 24 hours from the receipt of the report.
It stated that security agencies received a report on Friday morning alleging the discovery of the body of a security guard on the roof of the plot. Competent authorities immediately proceeded to the site to examine the scene and collect evidence.
Investigations led to suspicion falling on a former security guard for the plot, who had been dismissed the day before the incident was discovered. It emerged that he surrendered himself to the East Police Station under an arrest warrant related to the expiration of his visa, seeking to be deported from the country before his connection to the case was uncovered.
The Ministry of Interior said that upon confrontation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime following a dispute with the victim, who had taken his place at work. He admitted to assaulting the victim using a wooden piece and a knife.
It was confirmed that the necessary procedures are underway to refer the suspect to the competent authorities.
