North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for the rapid expansion of drone technology and the achievement of absolute superiority in this field, according to state media reports on Friday.
The report came a day after the South Korean military announced that North Korea had launched approximately 10 short-range ballistic missiles toward the sea, marking its first ballistic missile launches in 17 days.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Kim Jong Un visited an exhibition on Thursday showcasing a variety of attack drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles, highlighting recent achievements in unmanned aviation technology.
KCNA stated that the exhibition featured different types of strategic and tactical multi-purpose drones, suicide drones, and other combat systems. The weapons display included tactical suicide drones, cruise missiles, and a 600mm multiple rocket launcher system.
The agency confirmed that air-to-surface missiles fired by suicide and multi-purpose drones, along with cruise missiles, hit a target on an island with 100% accuracy, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
