Ugandan authorities have arrested a suspect named Mogorizi Musa, accused of killing and consuming 38 people over a 15-year period, and he now faces the death penalty.

Musa, 38, is believed to be the most dangerous serial killer in the country’s history. He is accused of breaking into homes and killing families, using a sickle to devour parts of their bodies.

Among the documented victims are a priest and his family, a doctor and eight of his relatives, nine members of a rural church, and a 52-year-old woman attacked in front of her two grandchildren. Reports indicate that he also worked as a hitman, luring women through romantic relationships before killing them.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 26, via the “X” platform, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the highest-ranking general in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and commander of Uganda’s Special Forces Group, announced Musa’s arrest, describing him as the country’s most dangerous “villain.” Kainerugaba confirmed that the suspect killed and consumed 38 people between 2010 and 2025 in the Masaka, Ibanda, and Kazo districts, and that he would face a public trial and execution.

The serial killer was arrested in 2009 and three subsequent times, but escaped or was released under controversial circumstances each time, enabling him to continue his attacks.

Authorities are investigating whether the death toll exceeds the confirmed 38 cases. Musa confessed to 17 additional murders in 2009. With his arrest, officials hope to end a 15-year wave of violence and determine who assisted him in escaping and whether he acted alone or with accomplices.
