Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said early Wednesday morning that he aims to form a strong right-wing national government, affirming that Likud is Israel’s largest party and “there is no doubt about this despite misleading media.”

In his address to supporters following the release of preliminary results, he added that it had become clear to him that the right holds a clear and decisive majority, warning against the danger of forming a government based on seats held by Arab parties.

The Israeli prime minister stated that “thanks to the efforts of our soldiers, we have changed the Middle East, established a security belt inside Lebanon, and in Gaza and Syria, and we assassinated Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Hamas leaders Mohammed Deif and Yahya Sinwar.”

Netanyahu considered Iran weaker than ever before, noting that Israel’s mission regarding Iran is not yet complete, and affirming that Israel has an unprecedented opportunity, with “our friend” Trump in place, to eliminate the Iranian threat forever.

For its part, Israel’s Channel 12 reported early Wednesday that preliminary results of the Knesset elections indicate that Netanyahu’s camp secured 53 seats, while Eizenkot’s camp obtained 49 seats, with Arab parties winning 18 seats.

The Israeli Central Elections Committee stated that the voter turnout in the elections reached 77.7% of eligible voters.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the U.S. administration does not wish to see a new far-right government including ministers such as Ben Gvir, and prefers the formation of a stable unity government.

It added that close associates of U.S. President Donald Trump are making contacts to understand the results of exit polls and the prospects of forming a unity government.

The Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv reported in the middle of the night between Tuesday and Wednesday that there are growing estimates that Gadi Eizenkot, head of the Yesh Atid party, will be the first to receive the mandate to form a government from the President of the State.
