The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs called on Friday for imams and preachers of mosques to hold the prayer for rain (Istisqa) on the morning of the upcoming Saturday at 125 mosques distributed across various governorates of the country, in observance of the noble Prophetic tradition of seeking rain from God Almighty.
The ministry, in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), said that the Acting Deputy Minister, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Suwailim, issued an administrative directive calling for specific mosques in the country’s governorates to hold the prayer at 10:30 a.m.
It added that 125 mosques have been designated in all governorates, in line with efforts to provide citizens and residents with the opportunity to perform the Istisqa prayer and to facilitate their participation by distributing the designated mosques across various residential areas.
The ministry noted that the names of the specific mosques designated for the Istisqa prayer in different governorates will be clarified, enabling worshippers to identify the nearest mosque assigned for the prayer.
