Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed on Friday that Lebanon values the role played by the United Nations in supporting stability and peace, and reaffirms its commitment to international legitimacy and the principles of the UN Charter, while emphasizing its dedication to cooperating with the organization in addressing shared challenges.
This statement was made in a congratulatory message sent by President Aoun to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the occasion of “United Nations Day,” which falls on Saturday.
He stated that this occasion “represents an annual milestone for renewing commitment to the principles and values underpinning the UN Charter, foremost among them safeguarding international peace and security, respecting the sovereignty of states, enhancing cooperation among peoples and nations, and working toward a more just and stable world.”
