The General Authority for Civil Aviation announced on Thursday that the directive requiring the inclusion of fee codes for Kuwait International Airport on travel tickets is part of efforts to enhance transparency and inform travelers of the applicable fees and their respective values in a clear and detailed manner.

Abdullah Al-Rajhi, spokesperson for the General Authority for Civil Aviation, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the fees outlined in Circular No. 58 of 2026, issued on October 19, are not all new; some have been in effect for a while, while others were recently introduced.

Al-Rajhi clarified that the directive aims to standardize the disclosure mechanism for these fees, ensuring they are displayed in detail on travel tickets, thereby enabling passengers to understand the cost components they incur when making a booking.

He added that this measure aligns with the General Authority for Civil Aviation’s efforts to protect travelers’ rights and strengthen the principle of transparency in the relationship between passengers, airlines, and travel and tourism agencies.

He noted that the measure also aims to empower passengers to review fee details when necessary, including in cases of booking cancellation or ticket refund requests, in accordance with the terms and conditions applicable to the ticket and relevant regulations.

He emphasized the necessity for all airlines and travel and tourism agencies operating in Kuwait to comply with the directive by clearly and separately listing fee codes and their corresponding amounts, thereby helping to reduce confusion and enhance the clarity of information provided to travelers.

Al-Rajhi affirmed that the General Authority for Civil Aviation will continue its regulatory and supervisory role to ensure clarity in travel-related procedures, safeguard passengers’ rights, and promote transparency and compliance with the regulations governing the air transport sector in Kuwait.
