Lebanese President Joseph Aoun warned on Thursday of the significant challenges facing the region, urging political factions and Lebanese officials to “exercise wisdom and awareness to spare Lebanon from any regional crisis that may arise in the coming period.”
In a speech delivered at the start of a cabinet meeting held at Baabda Palace, Aoun said that “the region’s circumstances and current challenges necessitate internal cohesion and strengthened unity to confront the risks surrounding the country.”
He expressed hope that “the trajectory of regional developments would not move toward escalation or explosion, especially since Lebanon is already suffering from pressing economic repercussions, which require everyone to act with a high degree of responsibility to shield the country from the impact of those challenges.”
