On Thursday, GCC Secretary-General Jassem Al-Bedawi announced that the GCC member states unanimously supported the nomination of the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State, Lana Zaki Nuseibeh, for the position of UN Secretary-General.
In a statement, Al-Bedawi emphasized that the support for the nomination reflects the GCC states’ commitment to backing multilateral international efforts and their keenness to contribute to strengthening the role of the United Nations in safeguarding international peace and security, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
The GCC Secretary-General praised Lana Nuseibeh’s distinguished career and her extensive diplomatic experience within the United Nations system.
