(KUNA) – The Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nizahat) launched today, Monday, a three-day training program titled “The Role of the Authority and Its Competencies” aimed at enhancing integrity and combating corruption. The program involves participation from 20 government entities and targets supervisors within these entities.

In a press release, Nizahat stated that the program is part of its continuous efforts to spread a culture of integrity, strengthen the principles of transparency and accountability in government bodies, and raise awareness of the importance of preventing and combating corruption.

The authority added that the program reflects its commitment to clarifying its role and competencies, enhancing cooperation with government entities, and contributing to the integration of efforts aimed at protecting public funds and consolidating trust in institutional work. It marks the launch of a series of training programs carefully prepared to meet the needs of various entities and inviting government bodies to participate.

The program covers the authority’s role and competencies, concepts of integrity and anti-corruption, the importance of prevention, the enhancement of professional responsibility, and the role of employees in government entities in consolidating the principles of integrity and transparency. It also aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge regarding legal frameworks and procedures related to combating corruption.

Nizahat emphasized that the program is specifically designed for supervisors, given their role in guiding teams, reinforcing commitment in the work environment, and supporting the implementation of supervisory and preventive measures within their entities. It confirmed that a similar program for the executive category in government entities will be held in February.

The program’s first day will discuss the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the law establishing the authority, its objectives, tasks, and competencies, as well as its role on the international stage. It will also cover the topic of asset declaration, the categories subject to it, the mechanism and deadlines for submitting declarations, procedures related to their review, and associated penalties.

The authority highlighted explanations of crimes criminalized under the law establishing the authority, mechanisms for monitoring and receiving reports, procedures for protecting and rewarding whistleblowers. It clarified the importance of familiarizing participants with these aspects to enhance their understanding of the adopted channels and procedures, the importance of reporting and cooperation in supporting the authority’s anti-corruption efforts, and the role of prevention in enhancing integrity and transparency, along with introducing anti-corruption prevention methods.

The authority affirmed its efforts to build broader institutional knowledge regarding its competencies and relevant legislation, and to empower participants to contribute to spreading awareness within their entities and supporting practices that enhance integrity and safeguard public funds.

It noted that participation is open to those wishing to join upcoming training programs to be implemented by the authority until February 2027, with the aim of expanding the scope of benefit and reaching the largest possible segment of government employees.

The upcoming training programs will include introductions to the Law on the Right to Access Information, the Law on Conflict of Interest, the Code of Conduct, and professional ethics. They will also feature a program on enhancing integrity and combating financial and administrative corruption, as well as a program on corporate governance.
