The extremist rabbi, Dov Lior, issued a religious ruling to settlers, permitting them to steal Palestinian olives and declaring it a religious duty for Jewish settlement.
Lior described Palestinians, who own the land and olive trees, as “the enemy,” stating that “Arabs have never purchased the land; it is in their possession by theft,” according to Israel’s Channel 14.
He noted that settlers are entitled to seize olives “in all areas near and far from settlements, as an application of the religious duty to control the land of Israel and establish Jewish ownership.”
He added: “The people of Israel have never despaired of the land of Israel. Arabs have not purchased the land from the people of Israel or from any private Jew; therefore, it is in their possession by theft. And as is well known, according to Jewish law, land cannot be stolen.”
He continued: “Arabs received compensation for cultivating the trees, abundantly through the fruits they consumed over the past years.”
Lior stated that “picking olives in the Holy Land is entirely permissible, and it carries an additional virtue given the security risks posed by Arabs approaching Jewish settlements,” as he described.
