Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed on Friday his country’s readiness to engage in dialogue with the United States, but stressed that Washington seeks to “subjugate Tehran,” adding that Iran will not yield to coercion.

Speaking during a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Pezeshkian said, “The Americans believe they can subjugate us, but we will not yield to force,” adding that the United States “has caused problems not only for Iran, but for the entire world.”

The Iranian president warned that if Washington continues on this path, it will exacerbate global tensions, urging it to resort to dialogue based on reason rather than the use of force, according to Iran’s state news agency, IRNA.

Regarding the nuclear file, Pezeshkian referred to the positions of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and affirmed that Tehran does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons, noting that propaganda campaigns against his country are, in his words, based on “lies.”

He also described U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran as “exceeding humanitarian limits,” and characterized recent U.S. attacks as “unjustified and inhumane.”
