(KUNA) – Al-Kuwait Club’s football team secured a 3-1 victory over Bahrain’s Al-Khalidiya today, Wednesday, in the second round of the AFC Champions League Two 2026–2027 season.

Entering the match at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium as part of Group 1, Al-Kuwait aimed to bolster their chances of competing for one of the two qualification spots for the round of 16, following a setback in their previous match against the UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba (2-3).

The first half saw cautious play from both sides, with Al-Kuwait holding a slight advantage. Their player Faisal Zayed opened the scoring in the 46th minute.

In the second half, Al-Kuwait’s Youssef Nasser doubled their lead with a penalty in the 65th minute. Al-Khalidiya reduced the deficit in the 80th minute through Gleison Moreira. In the 96th minute, Nasser scored his second goal of the match, securing the points for his team.

Group 1 also includes the UAE’s Al-Ittihad Kalba and Uzbekistan’s Nasaf.

The group stage follows a home-and-away league format, with each team playing six matches. The top two teams will advance to the round of 16.

The AFC Champions League Two features 32 clubs and is the second-tier club competition in Asia. It was launched under its current identity in the 2024–2025 season, replacing the AFC Cup.

Japan’s Gamba Osaka holds the title from the previous edition (2025–2026).
