(KUNA) – State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, approved the new organizational structure of the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs, “as part of institutional development and streamlining the administrative apparatus.”
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday, Al-Faleh said the new organizational structure, which received approval from the Civil Service Bureau, will take effect on November 1.
She added that this step is part of developing the institutional work system, streamlining the administrative apparatus, and improving the efficiency of resource and capability utilization, thereby enhancing the Authority’s capacity to fulfill its responsibilities in protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and achieving environmental sustainability. This supports the integration of administrative and technical efforts and directs them toward national environmental priorities.
Al-Faleh clarified that the structure includes a General Director for the Authority and two deputies at the rank of Assistant Undersecretary, who will head the Environmental Affairs and Support Services sectors, each overseeing three general directorates.
She noted that the restructuring reduced the number of sectors from three to two, while eliminating and merging organizational units. This contributes to addressing overlapping jurisdictions, reducing task duplication, clarifying responsibilities, and enhancing coordination among organizational units.
Al-Faleh emphasized that this reorganization aims to improve performance efficiency, consolidate corporate governance, and strengthen oversight and accountability. This supports the efficient execution of supervisory and technical tasks and enhances the Authority’s capacity to respond to environmental challenges and achieve environmental sustainability goals.
