Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty confirmed on Tuesday that Egypt is ready to respond to any Saudi request for support, including military assistance, and stressed that his country stands by the Kingdom in the face of attacks targeting its territory. He added that Cairo is “seriously considering” the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Abdelatty clarified that “Saudi national security is an integral part of Egyptian and Arab national security,” affirming that Egypt provides all forms of support and solidarity with the Kingdom “without any reservations.”
When asked about the possibility of providing military support to the Kingdom, Abdelatty said, “Whatever Saudi Arabia requests, we will certainly fulfill it.”
He emphasized that Egypt does not accept attacks on Saudi territory and stands firmly by the Kingdom’s side, adding, “Egypt fully condemns these attacks.”
Responding to a question about the prospect of direct Egyptian intervention in Yemen, Abdelatty stated that his country would continue to provide various forms of support and solidarity to Saudi Arabia.
