Head of the General Fireforce, Talal Al-Roumi, affirmed that the State of Kuwait attaches great importance to strengthening the disaster risk management system and raising readiness and preparedness levels, thereby ensuring the protection of lives and property and safeguarding the nation’s resources and security.
Al-Roumi emphasized that Kuwait continues its efforts at the local level to develop its preventive and operational capacities, and to enhance coordination and integration among relevant authorities. Regionally and internationally, it strives to consolidate cooperation and exchange expertise with sister and friendly countries, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, thereby bolstering joint readiness to confront crises and disasters.
He added that Kuwait continues its international humanitarian role in supporting countries and peoples affected by disasters, and in backing international efforts aimed at mitigating their risks, in line with the objectives of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.
Al-Roumi stressed that disaster response is no longer limited to reacting after an event occurs; rather, it now focuses on anticipating risks and enhancing prevention and preparedness. He confirmed that the General Fireforce will continue to develop its human and technical capabilities, leverage modern technologies, and strengthen national and international partnerships, aiming to establish an integrated system that achieves the highest levels of safety and security for society.
