The Egyptian military announced the continuation of the third phase of the expanded campaign to combat illegal gold prospecting in the Eastern Desert.
In a statement, the Egyptian military spokesperson said that law enforcement elements from the Armed Forces and the Civil Police continued implementing the third phase of the expanded campaign to “combat illegal gold prospecting activities in the Eastern Desert,” following the distribution of warning leaflets to “criminal elements.”
He added that the campaign aims to assert full sovereignty within Egypt’s international borders and to protect the country’s assets and national resources.
