The Kuwait Municipality confirmed on Monday that safeguarding state property is a shared social responsibility that extends beyond temporary campaigns to remove encroachments, and that such violations will be addressed on an ongoing basis.
Mohammed Al-Jalawi, a member of the central team at the Office of the Municipality’s Director General, stated in a press comment during a supervisory tour in Hawalli Governorate that the municipality’s campaign, “Kuwait is More Beautiful Without Encroachments,” launched last June, primarily contributes to ensuring the safety of all.
Al-Jalawi explained that the supervisory team removed an unlicensed “diwaniya” (a traditional social gathering space) erected near the sidewalk and utilities after the legally mandated period had expired, noting that the violator was warned but failed to comply. He commended the cooperation of many property owners who had committed violations, highlighting their prompt response in voluntarily removing their infractions, and urged other violators to rectify their violations before supervisory teams arrive.
He also praised the significant role played by government entities and their participation in the campaign since its inception, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Interior, and the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs.
Al-Jalawi said the municipality encourages citizens and residents to follow its official social media accounts to benefit from awareness messages and guidelines published regularly, and to contact the municipality to inquire about any regulatory requirements, thereby facilitating their procedures and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
