Advisor Turki Al-Sheikh Confirms 'Alvarez' Title Fight Will Take Place in Riyadh - Sarmad

Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority Chairman, Turqi Al Sheikh, announced that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will fight for the world title against Christian Mbilli in Saudi Arabia this month, despite an attack on Riyadh International Airport that killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300 others.
The Iran-aligned Yemeni Houthi group claimed responsibility for the Saturday attack, which was the deadliest of its kind in the kingdom in over a decade.
On Sunday, another person was killed and around 12 others were injured in a separate attack on Riyadh’s international airport, where Alvarez is scheduled to face Mbilli, the World Boxing Council super-middleweight champion, on October 31.
Turqi Al Sheikh said in a social media post on Sunday, “Canelo contacted me and told me he will fight in Riyadh in October, no matter what. He fears nothing.”
The two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion has not fought since his loss to American Terence Crawford in September 2025.
