Emirati President's Advisor: Reviving joint Gulf cooperation in security and defense - Sarmad

Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, said on Monday that there is a need to revive joint Gulf cooperation, “especially in the fields of security and defense,” adding that targeting Saudi Arabia undermines the security of the UAE and all Gulf states.

Gargash noted on his X (formerly Twitter) account that “since the start of the aggression against the Arab Gulf states, based on the attacker’s mistaken assessment that they are the weakest link in a war we sought to avoid, it has become clear that we are all targeted and that our security is indivisible. Targeting our fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia undermines the security of the UAE and all Gulf states.”

He stressed that “there is a need to revive joint Gulf cooperation, particularly in its security and defense dimensions, and to strengthen the collective security framework. This is the dimension that has suffered serious neglect, which has encouraged others to encroach upon us.”

Gargash concluded, “Gulf security is a shared responsibility that allows no complacency or delay.”
