Kuwait's Minister of Development Gives Special Importance to Joint Gulf Environmental Work - Sarmad

(KUNA) – State Minister for Development and Sustainability, Dr. Reem Al-Faleh, participated today, Sunday, in the proceedings of the 28th Meeting of the Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in the Bahraini capital of Manama, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the trajectory of joint Gulf environmental action.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Faleh emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation and coordination among GCC member states in environmental and developmental fields, highlighting shared challenges and common interests, and contributing to the Council’s efforts to achieve sustainable development, protect the environment, and safeguard natural resources.
She stated that Kuwait attaches special importance to joint Gulf environmental action, based on its conviction that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and a fundamental pillar for sustainable development and improving quality of life. She noted that addressing environmental and climate challenges requires integrating efforts, enhancing cooperation, and exchanging expertise among GCC member states.
Al-Faleh added that the shared geography, interests, and future of GCC countries form a solid foundation for continuing to develop joint Gulf cooperation and building upon achieved collaboration and accomplishments, thereby meeting the aspirations of the Council’s countries and peoples for a more sustainable future.
During the sidelines of the meeting, Al-Faleh, alongside the ministers responsible for environmental affairs of the GCC countries, had the honor of meeting with Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Al-Faleh expressed her deep appreciation for this gracious meeting, affirming that it reflects the attention and support accorded to joint Gulf action, and embodies the deep-rooted fraternal bonds uniting GCC countries, as well as the shared commitment to further enhancing the trajectory of cooperation and integration to realize the aspirations of the Council’s countries and their peoples.
In this context, she commended the efforts of the sister Kingdom of Bahrain in hosting the meeting and its excellent organization, expressing her appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the GCC Secretariat General and member states to advance joint Gulf environmental cooperation.
Al-Faleh reaffirmed that Kuwait will continue to support all initiatives that contribute to strengthening Gulf integration and consolidating joint action in environmental and developmental fields, thereby serving the common interests of the Council’s countries and preserving natural resources and the rights of future generations.
