Kuwait: Blatant attack on King Khalid Airport is a 'serious escalation and cowardly assault' - Sarmad

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and outrage over the blatant attack launched by the Houthi militia against King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday. The attack resulted in the deaths and injuries of innocent civilians, including passengers and airport workers, comprising Saudi nationals and individuals of various other nationalities, and led to the temporary suspension of operational activities at the airport.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry emphasized that this heinous and cowardly attack constitutes a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law. It stressed that the repeated, systematic hostile acts targeting civilian objects and vital infrastructure represent a serious escalation and a direct threat to the safety of air navigation and the security of civilians, necessitating accountability and prosecution of those responsible.

Kuwait reaffirmed its absolute solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its steadfast support alongside the Kingdom, and its backing of all measures undertaken to safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability, as well as to protect its citizens and residents on its territory. It underscored that the security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The Ministry also conveyed Kuwait’s sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people, as well as to the governments and peoples of the countries to which the victims belonged, and to their families and loved ones. It expressed best wishes for the swift recovery of the injured.

Kuwait called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and adopt a firm stance against these repeated attacks, ensuring the protection of civilian objects and civil aviation infrastructure, preventing their recurrence in the future, and guaranteeing that perpetrators do not escape punishment.
