Hamad bin Jassim: Must Stand with Saudi Arabia in Practical and Decisive Manner - Sarmad

• The Council faces plans targeting its member states’ interests, seeking to drain their resources and exert political and economic control over them

Former Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani stressed the necessity of standing with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia “in a practical and decisive manner” in the face of the ongoing threats and aggression it faces, noting that while this aggression originates from within Yemen, it “is not managed from within Yemen, but rather plotted and directed from outside.”

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim stated in a post on his official account on the “X” platform that the current situation demands setting aside side differences among some Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and demonstrating and embodying Gulf unity publicly and practically, rather than merely issuing statements of verbal support.

He added that this underscores the gravity of the situation for all GCC states and their very existence, emphasizing that the stability and strength of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as the largest state in the GCC framework, represent the strength of all GCC member states, regardless of existing differences.

He pointed out that GCC states continue to face an existential threat that is not limited to Iran, adding that it has become clear that Iran is “our main enemy,” while noting that he does not wish to delve at present into the reasons for this, whether concerning Iran or the charges against it.

He clarified that this does not mean refraining from seeking peace and establishing clear relations with Iran, highlighting that the GCC today faces several hostile plans and conspiracies, some of which target its member states’ interests and seek to drain their resources, while others aim to impose political and economic control over Gulf states.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim stressed that the current phase urgently requires strengthening unity and deep insight into the circumstances, in order to emerge from the crisis stronger than before, affirming the necessity of moving toward “serious action rather than mere wishes.”
