Trump Calls for Zelensky's Departure: Time for a New President in Ukraine - Sarmad

US President Donald Trump called for the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that the time had come for a new leader to take charge of Ukraine.
Trump said that Zelenskyy could have ended the war with Russia at more than one stage, but failed to do so, adding that it would be best for him to step down.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “It would be best for him to stop doing that,” following his announcement the previous day that he had reached an agreement allowing Russia to supply diesel to global markets.
In a sharp reference to Zelenskyy, Trump said, “I suggest they choose a new leader capable of striking a deal.”
President Trump also stated that Washington had warned Ukraine against striking oil refineries, emphasizing that targeting them could cause global problems and harm American farmers.
Trump added in remarks to journalists that Zelenskyy had ignored US warnings and continued to target fuel facilities, despite Washington’s requests not to attack them.
Trump’s comments come amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and disagreements over how to reach a settlement that would end the conflict between the two countries.
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that President Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Russia and allow it to export diesel was “unfair and dishonest.”
In an interview with Axios, Zelenskyy said the deal “looks like a birthday gift to Putin,” adding, “It looks very bad.”
Zelenskyy noted that he had spoken with US envoy Steve Witkoff a few days ago about efforts to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough before the onset of winter and the US midterm elections.
He said, “Steve proposed meeting in Florida. Of course, I agreed to go there to discuss the possibilities of conducting negotiations. The Americans mentioned they had some ideas, and we agreed to attend to discuss them.”
Zelenskyy pointed out that US envoys Witkoff and Jared Kushner did not mention any potential deal regarding diesel with Russia during their discussions. He clarified that he was aware the envoys would convey messages from the Florida talks to Moscow, and might then head to Kyiv to push for a peace agreement.
